Day 7: Palo Duro Canyon, Texas (Amarillo)

Amarillo, and Palo Duro Canon, Texas

When we first arrived here we unfortunately were not able to get into the park Palo Duro which we planned on camping in. Not because there is something wrong with us, but because it was already closed. So we had to stay in the Travelodge... that was okay, except that the only rooms available were smoking. Ugh some of my clothes still smell like that room!! Michael and Vicki I hope you're ready cause I am definitely washing my clothes at your house!! Anyways we had a bed and a shower, and that for us (right now) is luxury :) Oh the joys of traveling! Haha I actually don't mind not having a shower right next to me, as long as there is one available near by; however I do miss having a bed. Anyways back to the point of this blog post, to tell you all about our adventures in Palo Doro, and Amarillo!

So the first day we arrived and did nothing but get a hotel room cause we arrived so late 11:15 pm. When we awakened we decided to explore the city and history a bit. So our first stop was at this cool store called Georgia Street Mall, which was full of fun nic-nacs. We didn't purchase anything there because it was definitely over priced LOL. But it was still fun exploring and looking around.

Next we went to the famous Route 66, which is about 3 blocks long and had a lot of antique and vintage stores. We went a little crazy there because it was so full of awesomeness! I loved shopping there cause I could bargain in most of the stores.

After Route 66 we decide to get some B-B-Q at Spicy Mikes, I got a "Fritos Pie" and Rebecca got some ribs with potato salad, Cole slaw, and sweat beans.
I thought it was okay, but nothing I would re-order, or make at home for myself. I think Rebecca thought just about the same.
After this we went to Cadillac Ranch. Winch is just a bunch of Cadillac sticking half way out of the ground that people are encouraged to bring spray paint and decorate. Unfortunate we did not bring any, but we enjoyed looking at others spray and look at previous paint.

Finally after all this exploring we made our way to Palo Duro canyon, the "Grand Canyon" of Texas. Which is very beautiful, of course there is no comparison to the Grand Canyon, and there are millions of GINORMOUS super freaky looking bugs. I got eaten alive (pretty much) and I saw a couple of tarantulas just walking across the street. Seriously no exaggeration the bugs are huge! I was going to take a few pictures, but there was no way I was going to get that close to any of the bugs.

Anyways the park wasn't all bugs, it was also pretty. We went to the famous musical "TEXAS" and had a blast. I 100% recommend seeing it, if you're in the area. It was comical, patriotic, and entertaining.

Our time in Texas was short, but fun. I would return to explore some more. Next stop Arkansas/Louisiana.

With Love,

Gabriella

Psalm 16:7-8
I will praise the Lord, who counsels me; even at night my heart instructs me. I will keep my eyes always on the Lord. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.
